Onde - shawlette

This garment was inspired greatly by the yarn. I wanted to combine the feeling coming from the colours with the feeling coming from the stitches in my design. The beautiful pastel colours of the yarn reminded me of sea colours, and I wanted to have a texture that replicated small waves, a series of ripples on the water surface, triggered by a spring light breeze. I set up the ‘ripple’ motif using different numbers of wraps. The ‘ripple’ motif is alternating from the previous section to add an extra wavy effect, which is also amplified by the self-striping yarn. I also integrated a lace border on the left-hand side of the right side of the shawlette to give another gentle wavy movement. I called the design ‘Onde’, which means ‘waves’ in Italian. The fabric results in soft and gentle flows.
