This cute toy from the pokemon series is knit on straight needles using just basic stitches (knit/purl, increase/decrease, slipping stitches to give a wonderful curl on the tail and adding rows just by turning the work).
It stands at 14cm tall and uses around 18g of DK yarn in various colours.
I wanted to create a pattern that was easy to knit but still gives that sweep of the tail that is so integral to the character of Charmander. The body, head and tail are all knit in one piece that achieves this. It was tricky to conceive but is now easy to knit. The eyes and mouth are also knit which means that Charmander is child friendly with no buttons or sewn on eyes.
