Product Details
Prince Arthur's Hat is an early to mid sixteenth century style cap ideal for use with Henrician costuming and suitable for a wide range of costume impressions as well as being a rather stylish hat for modern wear.
It is knit very large, and fulled to fit, so gauge is flexible, as long as you are getting a comfortable knit for the yarn, your gauge will be fine. Modification Hint: If you prefer a hat with a neater brim profile, work just one increase per section rather than two at this stage, you'll end up with a less flared result that will stand up with less overlap between front and back sections. The hat as written will have a fair overlap between front and back brims which allows for a variety of styling tweaks at blocking stage.
Although the design is based on historic portrait evidence and gives a plausible result for period capping finishes, there are as best I can tell no surviving examples of this hat style so whilst the pattern does discuss the evidence, it is not formal
