Product Details

A shawl designed for my favourite cousin. Something out of regular track, assymetrical and irregular in shape.

The shawl is started at one end of the wing tip with a few stitches and the volume is built up by increasing at one side. The picot border on each side is ‘knit as you go’.

The pattern is easily adjustable in size by adding more repeats of the lace stitch pattern to make it wider and/or by working more repeats of the main pattern to add more volume. The bigger the shawl, the less regular the triangle, with bind-off side getting shorter in proportion to lace side.

Any yarn from lace to DK weight will look good on the shawl. Consequently, needles should be adapted to the yarn used and the degree of lacy effect that you desire to achieve. I knit very loosely so my needle size is always smaller than average.

Pictured shawl was knitted with Sonata Anilux sport / 5 ply on US 2 ½ – 3 mm needles. I used up 450m / 492 yards to obtain shawl that measures approx. 45x49x70”
