Note: This pattern requires the knitter to work from a chart.
Quoth originally appeared as part of Woolgirl’s Poet’s Club – an homage to Edgar Allen Poe and his poem “The Raven". Inspired by Poe’s ornithological misadventures, Quoth features an elongated stitch pattern that echoes the feathers of the ominous raven’s wings (and I can’t help thinking of the quill pen Mr. Poe most likely used to write, as well.) The elongation makes the most of the lovely variegated yarn, and by keeping the easily-memorized feather pattern to just a few panels, the hat is kept quite quick to knit! Leaving you plenty of time to mourn your lost Lenore...and maybe place a call to animal control.
Sample is shown in Biscotte & Cie Gobelin (100% Superwash Merino). A suggested substitute is shown below.
Errata:* The original Woolgirl version had an error in the chart- the double-wrapped knit stitch was labeled as a double-yarn-over. There are no double-yarn-overs in this pattern. This is corrected in the current version. The first instance of the pattern chart (after the set-up chart) should be started at row 2.*
