So easy to knit this simply,soft, and cosy little jacket and hat for those first few weeks, garter stitch with a little lace edging, giving it a nod to tradition without being overly fussy. Jacket will look lovely over a little dress, a pair of rompers, or an all-in-one for those very early days. The hat would be fine even for a boy you could skip the lace edge and go straight to the garter stitch. Warm and cosy enough to wear out in the pram.
The raglan sleeves make it so easy to put on and take off those tiny new born arms. I knitted mine in Merino wool but it would look equally good in something a little more "wash friendly"
