Product Details

The pattern is of a Fair Isle pair of mitts which can be knitted quickly using Jamieson's Double Knitting or any brand of double knitting wool you prefer, I have recently updated my pattern to include a new Shetland wool named Aister 'oo' which can be purchased from the Shetland islands in store or online - it is less thick than double knitting - I would say a light worsted.

There is an opening for the thumbs, and detailed instructions on how to make up the afterhtought thumb, as well as a few photos to show you how to make the afterthought thumb.

With Jamieson's I have used 1 x 25g ball of each colour in the mitts though I used only a small quantity of contrast colour for Fair Isle 15g would be plenty. It is good to choose two colours which blend together, yet also contrast well in order to show off the Fair Isle patterning.

The Fair Isle is charted.

These are made to fit an adult women's size hands.

I hope you enjoy making these up!
