Product Details
This crescent shaped shawl pattern combines one very old and feminine lace stitch as its focal stitch, with a fairly ornate edging stitch, which is added in the traditional Shetland manner. The combination makes a very feminine and lacy shawl. It is crescent shaped, and is approximately 70 inches wide by 20 inches deep. It will keep you warm in the winter and not be too heavy for the fall, spring, and air conditioning in the summer.
It is made with a heavier of the fingering weight yarns, and is knit on size 7 (U.S.) needles. The shawl requires approximately 1000 yards of yarn.
The stitches are both charted and written out line by line.
Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting).
Any heavy fingering weight yarn or sport weight yarn with a gauge of 4 sts/inch and 6 1/2 row/inch in lace stitch on size U.S. 7 (4.50mm) needles will work for this pattern.
