About the Design: I wanted a baby blanket whose styling was non-traditional, yet derived from a traditional source. This design’s inspiration was an antique block quilt. I used a wide rib, with single purl sts to simulate quilting sts. I used the tans and blue greens of beach and surf. And, so it was only natural to have a shell edging, which is quickly crocheted.
The squares are very portable and easy to work. Using 2 strands of worsted weight yarn held together makes it a quick project, as well - great for that last minute baby shower gift!
Knit Gauge: 16 sts & 21 rows = 4” (10 cm) in rib patt using 2 strands yarn and size 10 ndls, or size to give gauge.
**Wet-blocked Gauge: **14 sts and 19 rows = 4”. To save time, take time to check gauge.
**Substitute Yarn Weight: **2 strands light worsted held together OR 1 strand chunky to bulky wt.
