Product Details

This glorious shawl, reminiscent of the Scarlet Ibis's striking plumage, showcases a lovely feathered lace section edged with a delicate mesh of garter lace.

Designed in two sizes, the wide, wing-shaped full shawl is quite wide, ensuring that it can be easily worn with the point to the front or the back, but with long enough ends to wrap securely so it will stay in place. It begins with a provisional cast on and garter wedge formed with short row shaping, then it is worked sideways out to the left "wing" tip. Provisional stitches are then replaced to work the right "wing" of the shawl.

The asymmetric, triangular shawlette is roughly the first half of the full shawl design, meant to be worn with the point in front and secured with buttons around the neck.

Shawl and shawlette designs are available charted AND fully written. Your purchase includes a single document containing both options--simply print pages 1-12 for written instructions or 1-3, 13-21 for charted instructions.  Please print the entire document if you'd like to work from both.

This design is suitable for intermediate to expert knitters (or advanced beginners interested in expanding their skills).
