Product Details
The design on the front of the cushion cover is based on the thistle, known as the national flower of Scotland. The exact species is not really known but it is usually depicted with the purple/pink flower. Legend has it that the thistle was adopted by the Scots when a group of sleeping warriors were saved from an invading Norse army after one of the attackers trod barefoot on a plant. His cries woke the Scottish warriors who went on to win the battle.
Worked in stocking stitch the cover requires 1 x 50 gm ball. It is knitted in one piece starting with a small band of rib, stocking stitch for the main section, and finishing with another band of rib.
The thistle is knitted separately using small oddments of yarn with an I - cord for the stem together with stocking stitch, and a rib pattern for thistle. A small amount of embroidery completes the base of the flower. Each element is fully explained in the pattern leaflet.
To make up the side seams are joined together.
