Product Details
The Wee Duchess has designed what appears to be 'simple' stocking stitch socks; but: she uses her ingenious, unique method of reinforcing the heels, soles and toes with partridge stitch to make your socks last longer. Additional rows are cleverly added to even out the different tensions avoid bunching up around the ankle; these use a modified 'Japanese' turn method. Top down, 'Strong' heel, so no picking up stitches and only 2 ends to darn in! The heel turn is written out in full so you can tick off each row as you go, and illustrated tips and guidance included at every stage. Beginners can tackle this pattern by following the instructions carefully; experienced knitters will enjoy the clever construction method and embrace something new. The lovely squishy partridge stitch sole, with its thicker inside, is a joy to wear. The Duke absolutely loves his: he wears them for at least 3 days before being persuaded to take them off for washing!
