There is something very beautiful about short row crescent shawls, so I’m really excited to share this one with you. It starts with quite a long cast-on but, I promise, it’s worth it.
Size Depth: 24cm / 9 ins (centre), 15cm / 6 ins (edges) Wingspan: 210cm / 82 ins (top edge, stocking stitch)
Yarn Banshee Yarns Tibetan Silk DK, 212m/100g, 2 skeins. Shown in the Taisca colourway. Substitute with other double knitting weight yarns (make sure to swatch)
Gauge 14 stitches and 40 rows to 10cm / 4 ins measured over stocking stitch. 18 stitches and 30 rows to 10cm / 4 ins measured over lace pattern. Measurements taken after quite aggressive vertical wet blocking.
Needles & Notions 4mm 120cm-long circular needle.
Scissors, 38 stitchmarkers, darning needle for ends.
Construction Notes & Techniques The shawl is cast-on on the long edge of the shawl, a section of lace is knit (chart and written instructions provided). The top is then shaped using wrap and turn short rows
