Product Details
This is a pattern for a delicate lace shawl made using fingering weight yarn. It is comprised of a cable stitch with a lace border. The border can be enhanced with beads, as is shown in the picture. The beads are optional but bead placement is included in the chart. Altogether, it makes a very unusual and exquisite shawl. The two sides are joined by picking up stitches in the center of the shawl.
Included in the pattern are several ways to add beads to your knitting.
Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of cable knitting).
The yarn used in the sample is Mrs. Crosby’s Hat Box in light green. The beads are Toho metallic purple #461 in size #6. The color combination is striking. Of course, you can use a more subdued or traditional color combination.
The stitches are charted, and the stitches came to us from Canada and the creative mind of Annie Maloney.
Any heavy weight fingering yarn or light weight sport weight yarn will work for this pattern.
