Storm and waves give life and soul to the sea. (Wilhelm von Humboldt)
Do you love stormy weather like I do? The whipped-up sea, the sinister clouds and howling wind? Then maybe you should knit Stormur (Icelandic for “storm”), so you always have a cozy little storm you can wrap yourself in.
Stormur is a semi-circular shawl knitted in three colours with garter stitch, stockinette stitch and lacy waves. It’s an easy and fun knit.
The colors complement each other, but feel free to add an extra pop by choosing a contrasting colour for CC1, for example. I’m sure it will work as well!
Yarn requirements: 3 skeins of fingering yarn, shown here in Sternenstaubwolle Subtle Star.
MC: Die Ruhe vor dem Sturm (374 yds/342 m)
CC 1: Zartbitter (295 yds/270 m)
CC 2: Der Sturm (256 yds/234 m)
Finished measurements: 66” (168 cm)wingspan, 27” (69 cm) depth
Stormur is worked from the middle of the upper edge in semi-circular rows with increases based on the Pi-shawl formula.
