Story Keepers is a one skein shawl designed to honor the men lost during WW2. She was attacked on March 31, 1945 and lost 9 sailors. On July 29, 1945 she was torpedoed by the Japanese sub I-58 and 300 men went down with the ship leaving 800 in the water. Due to a series of unfortunate events it was several days before the men and the loss of the ship were discovered, including shark attacks. Only 316 men survived. All the proceeds of this pattern go to the USS Indianapolis Legacy Organization to keep the stories of these men and others lost at sea alive.
