With the “Storyteller’s Gift Cowl” the knitter creates the gift of a story to the recipient. Use these charts or create your own. Many here are motifs from around the world, not meant as knit motifs, but created from folk motifs. Knit a cowl using the charts as specified here or make new combinations. Wear it. When the time comes, gift it to someone who can use a hand knit hug. It may be someone you've never met, or someone you know well, someone in need of your hand knit support. That person may pass it on in future. One day you might receive it back. The pattern is 16 pages, most of which are charts...
The cowl that inspired this pattern has a special story. A friend lost her adult son in a workplace accident. In the family’s grief, they did courageous thing and donated his organs. Four people were saved. Many of her motifs are here, but not all. Some were created just for her. The final photo with the 3 hearts is her cowl.
