Every once in a while, I get “hooked” on something, checkerboards, stripes, snowflakes, flowers, crazy bright colors are just a few of my knitting phases that come to mind. This design season I am obsessed with snow. Found in a book of traditional fair isle motifs, I have adapted these as allover designs on a hat, a Christmas stocking and now on a headband for a niece. They remind me of one of those beautiful snowfalls, gentle winds, big flakes creating swirls against the night sky, catching a snowflake on your tongue.
Knit flat on small needles with worsted weight wool using a provisional cast on then joined with the Kitchener Stitch. The small needles combined with the stranding create a warm, dense fabric. Since it is knit flat, the finished length is completely up to the knitter. Three sizes are suggested, Small (Medium, Large), but any length will work. Falling Snows Graphs are on last 2 pages of pattern.
