I designed this hat as part of the fall Artesanitarium Designs Design Challenge. I did a lot of the work on this design during the Brett Kavanaugh US Supreme Court confirmation process (I know that seems like years ago, but it wasn't). Anyways, as someone that has been sexually assaulted, I believe it is so important for everyone to feel safe reporting these instances. The situation really hit home for me and the knitting helped keep me sane. I named the hat Take Refuge because I wanted to offer a little refuge to the world, whether you have personal experience, or support those who have. Lose yourself in the rhythm of the pattern and let it soothe you. I truly believe knitting has the power to heal us if we knit love into every stitch!!
