Product Details
This is a pattern for a knit shawl that features two stitches that come to us from Japan. Both the border and focal stitch contain a mock cable that is popular in Japanese knitting. Both stitches are interesting and fun to knit. Together, they make a beautiful shawl. The stitches, although they are Japanese, are easily learned by American knitters, especially those who love knitting lace. (Note: There are instructions contained within the pattern for adjusting and/or omitting the border stitch.) There are also instructions contained within the pattern for an optional crocheted edging. Further, all the Japanese symbols have been "translated" into symbols that are more familiar to American and European knitters.
Most heavier of the fingering weight yarns and/or sport weight yarn that yields a gauge of 4 3/4 sts/inch using a size (U.S.) #6 (4.0mm) needles.
No crochet hooks are needed if you elect not to make the optional crocheted edging.
