Product Details
Super quick to knit up, this bag fits into your pocket, then expands to hold all your groceries, farmer's market booty, or whatever treasures you find while foraging in the countryside. It's all garter stitch, so it's easy enough for a beginner. The secret to its stretchiness, you ask? The garter stitch is worked alternating two different needle sizes, which gives the bag both the structure of the garter ridge and the openness of the loops.
The bottom or base of the bag is knitted in garter stitch using the only smaller size needle for sturdiness. The top of the bag is similarly edged, with stitches placed on stitch holders, then knit up in I-cord for handles.
If you are a beginner, you can knit this bag flat from the bottom up and seam up the side to finish; if you are more experienced, you can skip the seams by knitting this bag in the round from the top down. Full instructions for both methods are included in the pattern.
