Product Details
"Sophy had chosen a dress of her favourite Pomona green... and particularly fine diamond drops hung from her ears..." The Grand Sophy is a deep crescent shaped lace shawl with optional beads. The pattern is designed for tonal or low-contrast variegated yarns. Instructions are given for fingering and heavy-lace weight yarns (3-ply).
This shawl is inspired by Sophy Stanton-Lacy, the heroine of the Georgette Heyer novel The Grand Sophy.
Like Sophy herself, the shawl is striking and elegant. The design features a bold central lace panel of cascading diamonds from the nape to the edge of the shawl. The diamonds sparkle with beads added as the shawl is knitted. The lace is framed by stocking stitch wings which are edged by a trail of beaded lace diamonds.
The pattern has both full charts and line by line written instructions.
The design uses simple stitches to create the geometric pattern of diamonds. The stitches used are the basic decreases and yarnovers.
