Product Details
This shawl concept started many years ago when I was trying to wrap my brain around lace. I understood the triangle construction of a top-down lace shawl, but I just couldn't figure out how to get lace to match up. I really just wanted a lace mess shawl that I could knit free-hand. Placing yarn overs wherever I saw fit. Here's my finished product!
A note on yarn choice. You can really use any type of yarn you'd like for this pattern. You could use very heavy alpaca (like I did) or you could use very light lace weight. Just use the needle size that the yarn you've chosen requests on the ball band.
I'm in the process of knitting one out of sock-weight yarn. I'd say you'd need about 400 meters of it, and around 300 meters of worsted weight. This pattern would be great for displaying a small amount of handspun too.
