Product Details

Pattern has been updated, May 2021.

A cosy curving garter-stitch scarf with reversible cable edging, taking inspiration from twisted gold torcs in the National Museum of Ireland.

The garter stitch curved section is knit from the top down, and is shaped with short rows. The reversible cable edging is then knitted-on. The pattern is written in two sizes, and includes written and charted instructions. This scarf is best suited to springy, soft yarns as the 12x12 stitch cable can be quite tight to work. The pattern is written using the Japanese short row technique; German short rows would also work.

Gauge: 18 st per 10cm / 4’’ in garter stitch, unstretched. Note: the weight of the knitted-on cable edging will stretch the finished piece.

Materials 4.5mm circular needle, approx 100cm /40” long, or size needed to achieve gauge. Cable needle scrap yarn for working Japanese short rows. optional stitch markers
