I’m Polish and we use the word Trajkotka for a chatterbox, someone who talks a lot and quickly, and it’s a positive word. The shawl is a perfect choice for any trajkotka as knitting it won’t stop you having a nice conversation.
Trajkotka is quite easy to knit, it uses basic lace techniques – increasing, decreasing and yarnovers. Trajkotka forms a triangle, the lace edge is slightly longer than the stockinette one to make the pattern stand out more.
Size – the stockinette section can be adjusted to your preference while the lace section stays the same.
Yarn – lace to fingering to get a nice lacy shawl, heavier weight to get a warm winter wrap. The lace section will look slightly different depending on yarnweight and your knitting style, from a lacy cobweb to a more compact layout of yarnovers. The sample was done with one skein of Zitron Filisilk (100g = 656 yards /600m) on US 2 ½ / 3.0mm needles (I'm a loose knitter).
The pattern was tested and proofread by native English speakers.
