Product Details
Ursa Minor is a constellation in the the northern sky, also known as the Little Dipper, notable for its use in locating the North Star at the end of its tail. The North Star is a fixed point in the sky from which to draw measurements for celestial navigation - just in case you find yourself stuck in the middle of the ocean without a GPS :).
The stitch pattern used in this piece is a variation on the ‘bear track’ pattern (which I’m calling ‘bear claws’). It is designed to obtain as large a square as possible out of 3 skeins of Malabrigo Organic Cotton. If you have more yarn, it is very easy to make a larger blanket by simply changing the number of pattern repeats or the number of stitches between the bear claws. (Notes for adjusting the size are included in pattern.)
Pattern instructions are both written and charted.
This could be a baby blanket, table cloth, picnic basket liner, towel, or anything else your heart desires!
A subsitute yarn is shown below.
