Product Details
Vaila is a recreation of an early 20th century cardigan on display at the Shetland Museum and this elegant pattern was part of The Vintage Shetland Project. An all-over colourwork pattern is enhanced by a deep moss (seed) stitch welt and button bands. The collar and lapels add to the tailored finish. The main body is worked bottom up, in the round, with steeks for the centre front and the sleeves. The sleeves are picked up and knitted downwards. The front and neck bands are picked up and knitted with short rows worked to create the lapels and rolled collar. Shoulders are grafted together on a single colour pattern row. Crochet button loops are made at the edge of the front band after the rest of the garment has been completed. The sample shown is the first size, worn with zero ease, but it is suggested you choose a size with 5-10cm (2-4in) of positive ease.
The pattern contains full colour charts plus comprehensive written instructions as well as a clear schematic diagram.
