Product Details
When it comes to the eeriest holiday of the year, Halloween, there are a lot of superstitions related to bats, as baleful beacons of bad luck and evil. Although the bat is seen as the poster child for the villainous vampire, only some species actually binge on blood; most bats are friendly fructivores, essential in their ecosystems for pollinating plants and scattering seeds.
This 36 cm bat was made on 2.25 mm dpn (UK 13, US 1) in Rowan Felted Tweed and Drops Baby Merino with strands of Kid-Silk to make the bat look more furry; it was filled with soft toy filling. You can use heavier yarn and thicker needles and your bat will be a bit bigger. Thin wire can be used to stretch the wings, so they can be arranged in any pose you wish. It is an easy to medium project, knitted flat and in the round, with intarsia color work, short rows and i-cords. All is comprehensively explained and illustrated in the pattern.
Have a blood-tingling Halloween! Viv
