Product Details
Although transportation evolved quickly during the Victorian era, walking, for many people, remained a favorite pastime in nice weather. There were traditions and rules, however, about how to walk, when to walk, and the proper attire. For women, that was the walking suit – a fitted jacket and matching skirt.
This jacket is worked flat, from the bottom up, on straight needles. Waist shaping, leg o’mutton sleeves, lapels, and a button band add realistic detail. Stitches are picked up at the armhole and worked in the round after the body is completed.
The skirt is worked in the round from the bottom up to about 2 inches from the top, where it switches to knitting flat for ease in dressing. A button is added to the top for a snug fit around her waist.
~ This pattern is for the Victorian Walking Suit only (jacket and skirt). It was designed to fit China Doll, a pattern which can be found on my Ravelry designer page.
