FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2020, I WILL BE DONATING £2.50 FROM EACH PATTERN SALE TO MARIE CURIE. THIS IS PART OF THE FLOWER POWER FUND RUN BY DR SARAH HOLMES. MARIE CURIE IS A CHARITY BASED ORGANISATION THAT CARE FOR THE TERMINALLY ILL IN THE UK.
After a cold winter season cooped in their cottages, the residents of the villages of England spring forth on May Day to celebrate the start of warmer weather. Stalls selling cakes and jams surround the village green. At its centre stands the maypole and its many ribbons, all set for the start of the maypole dance.
This was my inspiration for these socks. The streams of lace which run down the front of the sock represent the ribbons and the garter band down the back of the leg is the maypole.
The yarn I used for the pattern sample is by Sherry Iris Designs in the 'Wild Strawberries' colourway. The heels and toes were knit using Cascade Heritage in 'Herb'.
