Product Details
This wrap is knitted in the traditional “Shetland Shawl” method (although the focal stitch comes to us from Estonia), with a knitted on edging. Both the focal stitch and the edging stitch resemble the leaves of the weeping willow tree, hence the name. Since this wrap is made with heavy fingering weight (light sport weight yarn), it is a much faster project than your average shawl. Nor is the lace in either the wrap stitch or the edging stitch particularly difficult for a veteran lace knitter.
Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a good working knowledge of both knitting, purling, and lace knitting.)
The two stitches are both charted and written out line by line.
Any sport weight yarn or heavy fingering weight yarn can be used to knit this shawl. The one in the sample was knit with Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport.
