Product Details
Wildfire is a radiating lace shawl that begins with a honeycomb mesh and expands into a delicate, textured lace.
The edging lace was created by Naomi Parkhurst based on the word Wildfire, and this project was a way to keep myself constructive during the fires here in Australia over summer 2019/20.
The size of the shawl can be adjusted in several ways - increasing the number of wedges in the semi-circle, or working more of the honeycomb. The design suits lace to fingering yarn, in solid, semi-solid, gradient or subtle speckles. It’s possible to increase the number of wedges for a rounder shape, and/or to adjust the depth of the shawl.
Yardage requirements are somewhat flexible, requiring a minimum of approx 500m (550y) of lace to fingering weight yarn. It could use up to 1000m with extra wedges/repeats. (Needle size will depend on yarn weight & gauge preference.)
The design can be worked entirely from the written pattern, or from charts with notes.
