Originally published in 52 Weeks of Shawls by Laine Publishing. Wingate is available in English and Finnish.
This reversible triangular shawl is knitted starting from the widest side and the maximum number of stitches. Decreasing happens on every fourth row, making the rows become shorter and quicker as you work. Windgate is worked with two yarns held together. The pattern is a combination of garter stitch with columns of fisherman’s ribbing in between, which creates an accordion-like texture. It is easy to alter the size by adding or subtracting repeats. Lastly, tiny tassels are added to the cast-on edge.
Yarn: 3 skeins of Corriedale Sock Twist by Wilde Seele (100% Corriedale wool, 437 yds / 400 m – 100 g), colourway Silverlining as Yarn A.
3 skeins of Kid Mohair and Mulberry Silk by Wilde Seele (70% kid mohair, 30% mulberry silk, 459 yds / 420 m – 50 g), colourway Silverlining as Yarn B.
Or approx. 1000 yds / 910 m of both yarn A and B, or one thicker yarn to obtain gauge.
