Product Details
I was inspired by Latvian mittens with their sun symbols which have the meaning of change and renewal/hope. I find this is particularly suited to this time of the year and the holiday season. As they are not only worn at Christmas or Yuletide I chose the name Wintertide where “tide” merely means “a time of year”. There is a somewhat similar crochet mitten pattern with the same name on ravelry which is cool, here is my knitted version. This is a standard mitten shape, knitted in the round with peasant thumb. The thumb is knitted after the main part of the mitten has been done. The construction is the traditional one which means you vary gauge by changing needle size in order to achieve different sizes. I have supplied guideline sizes and gauges so that you know which gauge to aim for. There is 10% positive ease included.
