Product Details

We are fortunate to live near ancient woodland which is managed for biodiversity by the National Trust and is in the North York Moors national park. This hat is inspired by some of my favourite trees in the woodland in particular oak, elm and larch.

It is a close fitting beanie designed to keep your ears and head warm in horrible weather. Knitted in KDD Milarrochy Tweed, which is 70% wool and 30% mohair fingering weight, the fabric becomes softer and cosier the more it is rained on! It is also an excellent hat for backpacking and camping, being lighter than a fleece hat of similar dimensions. The hat is knitted in the round from the bottom up with a double layered hem to keep your ears warm. It can be made from oddments of yarn requiring between 20m and 44 metres each of six colours, plus 60m for the lining which can be made from any suitable 4-ply/fingering weight yarn. other suitable yarn alternatives would be J&S 4 ply jumper weight, or Jamiesons spindrift.
