Product Details
The Wren Shawl is a circular wrap with a flouncy edge that gently floats away from your shoulders. A wren is a little bird, reminding me of the bird used on Twitter. The bottom of three tiers of lace has W's that show up in the design helping inspire the name.
It can be worn with the opening in front or back, with a clip or shawl pin or open, giving you a wide variety of looks out of one shawl. This is a great use of a single skein of handpainted sock yarn because the pattern decreases in size from the wide bottom edge to the small top border and this diminishes pooling. This shawl will use the full skein of yarn!
The borders of each section of lace is a garter stitch, giving a nice delineation between the lace tiers. And the simple lace pattern is easy for a beginner to follow. Blocking is important at the end of the process to open up the yarn overs that form the pattern.
