Product Details

Named after a friend from college (and it's pronounced "win-NAY"), I designed this shawl to try to recreate the sense of calm and serenity she always seemed to exude.

This top-down crescent shawl is surprisingly quick to knit, with large blocks of color and undulating stripes shaped with short rows. Use any two skeins of fingering weight yarn for an elegant wrap to drape over your shoulders or around your neck.

To knit this pattern, you need to know how to:

do a provisional cast on and pick up stitches along a garter edge (for garter tab),

increase using a backwards loop on the right needle, and

work short rows using w&t.

The yarn requirements for this shawl are generous. Both of my samples used less than 400 yds./366 m, but as gauge on a shawl can be a bit flexible, I’ve recommended having a good buffer just in case you require more. This pattern is also very well suited to handspun, as shown in the cream/blue sample.

This pattern has been professionally tech edited.
