    Son and DiL visiting over the Christmas break, I'm knitting bits and bobs as I can't just 'sit'. Daughter in law asked for advice on how to knit and as we looked through some patterns online I stumbled across this fabulous pattern - the rest is history so they say! Needless to say I've loved knitting this and she absolutely adores it. Knitting one for myself now in green šŸ˜Š

      Number two in lime green for me added to photos! Granddaughter and another daughter-in-law have added their orders! One red and one grey, be doing this in my sleep soon! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

      Hi Roberta Iā€™ve got the wool the pattern & the crochet hook but have no idea how to start donā€™t understand the graph I can knit & have knit a cable cardigan in the past but this is way out of my league but really want to do it can u help where do I start what does the graph mean HELP lol if u wud prefer to email me my address is lindadallison@gmail .com Iā€™m also on Facebook x

        Have you got all the different size needles Linda? The crochet hook is unimportant until you come to finishing off! I thought it out of mine too but read it through again and again before starting. Find the right chart for the size you are doing, make sure you have all the pages and start at R1. Believe me, once you start you'll wonder what you were worried about! Take it one row at a time, I found it useful to go through all the different techniques with spare wool first and also enlarged and printed the legend out to make it easier (saves having to keep flicking back to it thus losing your place on the chart!), also make sure you use a row counter-very important for me. Make sure you know what all the abbreviations mean too. Hope this has helped, if not we'll try again! Don't give up, I think I read through every day for almost a week before I felt brave enough to make a start!

        Whoops, just remembered that you do need your crochet hook once you get to provisional casting on for sleeves! I googled what I wasn't sure of (provisional casting on) and found that YouTube helped!

        @Roberta W Iā€™ve just learnt how to crochet wish Iā€™d done it years ago Iā€™ve picked it up quite quickly and it grows quicker so Iā€™ve got quite a few crochet hooks. Iā€™m doing a snood at the minute itā€™s very addictive. I saw this jacket thought it was so beautiful got to give it a go. I suffer from fibromyalgia,osteoarthritis chronic fatigue syndrome and asthma (but apart from that Iā€™m fine lol ) is I tend to be at home a lot & been looking for things to occupy my mind I play games on my iPad quite a few being brain games to keep my mind ticking over plus we have 2 German shepherds who help keep my spirits up. Thank u for the offer to help me with this project itā€™s much appreciated Linda xx

        @Roberta W: just been trying to work out the chart ( Iā€™m doing size M as Iā€™m a 12/14 do u think thatā€™s the best size) but there is nothing in the squares for rows 1 & 2 thatā€™s confusing me for a start also all the squiggles donā€™t make sense & I donā€™t see any explanation for them Iā€™ve looked on YouTube but havenā€™t found any video that has a chart that looks like the one on the pattern sorry to be a pain how do I get started on the yoke I cud do with my mum she was a fantastic knitter unfortunately I lost her about 10 years ago bless her xx

        @Linda D: Linda, look at the bottom of each page of the chart and it will show you what all the 'squiggles' are! It also shows what the 'blank' squares are - without digging my pattern out this early in the morning, they are knit on the right side and purl on the wrong side (Or the other way round!) Keep reading every day before you start it, it will make sense after a few reads!

      Made this for one of my daughters-in-law, her favourite colour in Paintbox Aran. First time I've knitted from a chart so big! A little daunting until I got into the swing, enjoyed making this so much I've now started another one for myself!
