The Alder Bag is a simple to knit accessory bag which matches the Alder Blanket.
Whilst making the blanket I thought it would be nice to give a little accessory bag along with the blanket for keeping little things to hand.
The bag is based on the Japanese knot style bag and is knitted in one piece and seamed with the handles being knitted separately and added after.
The bag has a square base in garter stitch which extends around the sides and top of the bag and frames the pattern stitch which matches the Alder Blanket pattern.
Techniques used in this bag are all straightforward and suitable for the beginning knitter with a little experience. Full seaming instructions are given at the end along with photos to help you along if needed.
Any Aran weight yarn is suitable. The pale coloured bag in the photos was made with Cascade Pacific to match the blanket, the blue bag was knitted with Rowan Hemp Tweed. A firm yarn will give you the best results.
