You start make these shorts with two octagons and they grow outwards to any size you want. With a basic pattern you can use any type of yarn, make the octagons, and fit them to size. The design features a repeating mesh and solid stitch going round the shape. I have provided design choices throughout the pattern, so you can choose leg length, leg style, hip fit, and waistband type.
The instructions include lots of detail to ensure shaping is made easy. The instructions use photographs and diagrams to help you can place stitches correctly. It would be useful to understand crochet diagrams, as these help to show where stitches should be placed, I have listed this pattern as "intermediate" because of shaping and pattern techniques.
Quantities of yarn vary depending on the yarn you decide to use. Example quantities are shown to help you judge. There are no tension instructions as this piece relies on crocheting to fit, rather than to size.
