Balloons Pillow

My Balloons Pillow is one of my book cover inspired pillows. It is inspired by the cover of my favorite childhood book: Wendy Mass' 11 Birthdays. The front and back side of the pillow are composed of rows of double crochet stitches. The intricate color changes on the front side form the balloons. There are photos included in the pattern to explain how to crochet with multiple balls of yarn at once. I recently added a color chart for the front side of the pillow. I used MillaMia Naturally Soft Cotton yarn, but any sport weight yarn will work. You will need two balls of the background color, and many small balls of yarn for the balloons. Each balloon does not require a lot of yarn, so this is a great stash busting project to use up small balls of yarn. You will also need a 14 by 14 inch pillow insert and 5 buttons. The buttons hold the bottom of the pillow together, and allow the pillow to be taken on and off the insert.
