Bells & Lyres is based on a story that I wrote (included in the pattern) in which love is lost and then found for all of eternity. It is a short story, well within the fairy tale genre. The bells are sounded and the lyres are played! The top and bottom borders represent the ivy among which the heroine lies.
This pattern involves four sections. The beginning edging of the ivy and oak leaves (Gazebo Lace) Chart A is worked as one piece, then decreases are worked and you work the two side panels of the Lyre Chart (Chart B) and a central pattern of the Bells (Chart C). The charts are worked as B, C, B, one Lyre pattern on each side of the bells. You will then work Chart A again as a separate piece and graft to join.
