This is my most popular pattern - Black Cat Coaster. Because of the shaping, I've listed it as intermediate, but the 14 page download will walk you through all the steps so that a beginner with some experience should be able to crochet this cute coaster. It's really fun to make and perfect not only for Halloween but also for any cat lover in your life.
Make 4 or more for a coaster set, or just one for a mug rug, appliqué or decoration. The charm of this design is that you are viewing the kitty from the back – think of the silhouette of a plump cat from behind, maybe looking out a window – so there is no need to add facial features - but this could easily be transformed into the front view of a cat with some embroidery, if you prefer.
