“…his antlers resemble those of a stag, his head that of a camel, his eyes those of a demon, his neck that of a snake, his belly that of a clam, his scales those of a carp, his claws those of an eagle, his soles those of a tiger, his ears those of a cow.” Han dynasty scholar Wang Fu (taken from Wikipedia)

This gloriously mixed-up sounding creature is a depiction of a Chinese dragon. A mix of short rows knitting, picking up stitches, i-cording, picot edging and simple two colour knitting produces this lovely – and it stands up on its own (but not on a slippery surface).

To make this you will need:

100g main colour DK yarn (I used Stylecraft Cabaret DK Ocean) A few yds/m of pink DK yarn (for the mouth) A few yds/m of white or cream DK yarn (for the teeth, optional) 100g of scrap DK yarn for the inserts Scraps of green and black DK for the eyes.
