Christmas Elf

The Christmas Elf has been a popular tradition for many, many years. My late mother-in-law had quite a collection of these little fellows from the 1950s, and Christmas decorating was not complete until they sat upon her mantlepiece. If you'd like a quick, fun knit, try my pattern. This little Christmas Elf hugs his knees, as many of the traditional elves do ... He's knitted in the round, then felted in the washing machine. Simple embroidery stitches bring him to life! His arms and legs are I-cord, so they're finished in a snap. Don't forget the bell on his hat!
