DaWaTa got its name after one of the heroes of Bhabani Bhattacharya’s So Many Hungers! novel I was listening to while knitting. I decided to write it with 3 capital letters just as a fancy, to make it look more unusual.

The stitch pattern used in the scarf is an 8-row repeat that is easy to knit and yet requires some attention not to mix up the rows. It can be repeated as many times you wish to get the desired length and to enable you to use up all the yarn without any leftovers.

Yarn – fingering to DK weight would be the best. I used almost 2 skeins of Drop’s Baby Alpaca Silk (50g = 183 yards /167m)

Needles - US 6 / 4.0 mm or any other size according with the yarn you use. If you want the scarf to be really lacy, use larger size needles than you would normally choose for your yarn.

Gauge is not crucial and depends on the yarn and the needles that you choose to knit with

The pattern could be customized by using different yarns, needle sizes, or adding repea
