I am excited to share this new design and hope it brings us all some strength, peace and joy.
The feature square in this design is achieved by slipping stitches and working with just one colour per row. Much simpler than stranded knitting.
The technique is called Mosaic knitting and if you have never tried Mosaic this is the perfect starting point.
The Mosaic square is fully written row by row as well as a chart for those who like charts. Your choice.
Measurements: After gentle blocking: 48.5 cm/19” wide x 180 cm/71” long.
Gauge: Before blocking 19 stitches x 40 rows = 10 cm/4” square in Garter stitch.
Yarns used: Malabrigo Rios pure Merino Superwash Worsted (9 wpi). 100 grams, 192 meters/210 yards. Colour (A) 1.7 skeins Black # 195 (326 m/357 yds in total). Colour (B) 1.7 skeins Ivory # 704 (326 m/357 yds in total). Colour (C) 1.8 skeins Sunset # 96 (345 m/378 yds in total).
