Simple cabling makes a lovely chunky blanket. I knitted this with 2 strands of DK cotton yarn, so it's nice and light and airy - perfect for summer or winter.

Get's you really used to the principle of how it works - you'll be an expert by the end.
Knitted with 2 strands of DK yarn (with yarn doubled) on US size 10 needles (6 mm). Requires 500 grams of DK yarn (about 900 yds). You could also make the blanket with worsted weight or aran yarn using the same needles to obtain the same gauge/tension.
