Hortensia Scarf

Simple stitches make a lace scarf that drapes on the bias. Instructions are given in both written and charted format, using US terminology (a version with UK terminology is in the works). The open lace sections are reminiscent of the 4-petaled Hortensia flowers, commonly called hydrangeas.

One size is given in the pattern; however, the scarf can be worked to a desired length, or made with any weight of yarn and appropriately sized hook to change the overall dimensions.

Gauge is not critical to this pattern. The intended result is a fabric that is soft enough to drape easily and is comfortable to wear. At least one pattern tester found a size G hook uncomfortable and recommends going up at least one hook size with the Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Cotton.

Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Cotton is listed as a worsted weight/medium yarn; I consider it to be a heavy worsted and comparable to some yarns that are labeled bulky. For the blue sample shown, 2 skeins were used with 9 yards lef
