This extraordinary blanket is inspired by angels, medieval art and birds. Since 2005 I’ve been painting angels. How wonderful would it be to design a crocheted angel blanket and so I decided to go for it. It turned out to be quite a challenge and great fun.
The angel has a halo and her face is surrounded by colourful flowers with pompoms. In her hands she holds a white dove and a string of flowers is draped over her wrists. The dress flows out in circles, emanating over the bottom of the blanket.
The face, hands and the dove are crocheted in sc stitches and then embroidered with cross stitches. This is not difficult to do. Some parts are sewn onto the blanket. The pattern gives precise step-by-step instructions and photo tutorials.

- You can use any yarnweight but it will affect the size of the blanket. You will also need something to make pompoms with and some pins.
